Mystery Creek Events Centre is one of New Zealand’s biggest multipurpose event centres. Located in the outskirts of Hamilton, New Zealand in Ohaupo.   Mystery Creek Events Centre boasts 114 hectares of land and event versatility with multi-functional facilities and an abundance of indoor and outdoor space ensuring the centre can host all components of an event on one property.  It is home to many events, the largest being Fieldays which is held annually.

Fieldays is the Southern Hemisphere’s most renowned agricultural event and the ultimate launch platform for cutting edge technology and innovation. It is owned and operated by the New Zealand National Fieldays Society, a not for profit organisation that encourages the growth and development of agriculture in New Zealand.

Event Director  – Purpose

Fieldays are currently looking to appoint an Event Director to manage this large scale event.  The event is largely already designed, the emphasis will be to project manage and support with the implementation of event strategies, execute to detail and on time and bring improvements year on year.   There is a significant people leadership component to the role, managing an engaged and high performing team of circa 500 volunteers, contractors and staff.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Previous experience as a Major Event Manager, Senior Event Manager and/or major project management responsibility
  • Previous experience managing complex events/projects with attention to detail and running to tight timelines
  • Excellent communication, presentation, project management and strategic time management skills
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, creative, inspiring and results driven
  • Clear budgeting and costing experience
  • Flexible and adaptable to work outside of core hours
  • Able to maintain a big picture philosophy at all time
  • Have a strong will but a level head
  • An ability to pull together the individuals you need to deliver a successful event
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
