The Adelaide Football Club is the largest sporting organisation in South Australia. The Club fields teams in both the AFL and SANFL, while the AFLW team is the undisputed leader in women’s football nationally, being the only AFLW team to have won multiple premierships in 2017, 2019 and 2022. With more than 60,000 members, the Club has a significant community footprint that unites people from diverse backgrounds.
At the heart of the Club’s new five-year strategic plan, is the goal to build a new world class headquarters that will be its future home and provide elite training facilities. This major capital works and infrastructure project has created new opportunities at the Adelaide Football Club and as a result they seek to appoint a Chief Operating Officer to join the Executive team.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a critical leadership role that will drive results, spur growth, and increase the overall efficiency of the Club.
The role is responsible for managing all aspects of Finance, IT, Governance, Legal and Risk, day-to-day facilities management and will play an integral role in supporting major infrastructure projects, ensuring these functions are best in class and exceptionally well governed and controlled. The COO will ensure the effective leadership of an engaged and highly capable team, which includes four direct reports.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the position is a key member of the Executive team and holds the role of Company Secretary, advising an influential Board and its committees on governance matters.
We are looking to appoint an experienced executive leader who has broad operational expertise and can demonstrate innovative and contemporary intellect. You will have a track record as an inspirational leader who can upskill and stretch individuals to think with a growth and change mindset and will be comfortable working in a complex multi stakeholder which is driven by success on and off the field.
The Adelaide Football Club is committed to safeguarding children and young people in its care and ensuring that they are safe. The Adelaide Football Club expects its representatives, regardless of their role or level of responsibility to support such an environment. This role will be subject to pre-employment checks, including a Working with Children Check.
