EGM Community & Pathways – Netball NSW

Netball NSW is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout New South Wales and is affiliated to Netball Australia. The Netball NSW Board and Senior Management Team has an ambitious vision for the Sport and aims to enhance the community and the game to grow and thrive, transforming lives through netball.

The proud home of the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball, Netball NSW also provides the framework for over 115,000 registered members and over 150,000 total participants to enjoy netball at all levels of performance throughout New South Wales. Netball continues to grow both on and off the court and much of this success can be attributed to the wide range of programs, facilities and services Netball NSW offers to its members and participants, from the grassroots through to the elite and professional level.

Netball NSW has a proud history of elite netball teams and athletes’ performances in national and international competition. Over 300 athletes have proudly represented NSW in elite competition since the inception of the national netball league in 1997 and then the ANZ Championship and Suncorp Super Netball (SSN).

The Position

Reporting to the CEO, the role is responsible for developing and driving the sport’s strategic priorities to increase participation in netball and to support Associations and Clubs to deliver amazing netball experiences.

The Executive General Manager (EGM) Community & Pathways is responsible for the continued growth and development of all elements of netball within the State of NSW, including competitions and pathways, community netball, and the enhancement of governance structures and systems. The position will have budget responsibility of the areas of Stakeholder Relations and Association development; Competitions; State Pathways; and Volunteer Workforce.

The role requires a highly collaborative executive with a strong focus on fostering productive stakeholder relationships.

Reporting Structure 

This is a new role within the Senior Leadership team and will be a key role in the Netball NSW executive team. Reporting to the CEO the role will manage a small team including;

  • Facilities & Infrastructure Manager
  • Competitions and Events Manager
  • General Manager Stakeholder Relations
  • State Pathways Manager

Requirements

Candidates for the position will require a range of personal and professional skills including:

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum five (5) years executive/senior management experience in a related field of employment with demonstrated considerable staff management experience, strong business planning and budget management experience.
  • Degree qualification or other relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Technology, Sport, Marketing or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with Board management, government relations and a sound understanding of governance principles.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to make difficult decisions
  • Brings excellent leadership qualities with an ability to coach and motivate a team, drive results and deliver to expectations set and on budget with a passion for getting the best out of people
  • Excellent written, organisational, interpersonal and communications skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels and with key stakeholders
