Golf Australia is the governing body for golf in Australia.  Our goal is to raise the level of interest and participation in the game from grass roots through to elite golfers, to fans, volunteers, and associated bodies.

About the Role

Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia are working together to grow the game of golf to maximise the benefits the sport provides to current and future golfers, golf facilities and the Australian community.

The Head of Government Relations & Corporate Affairs will support Golf’s National Strategy through government, stakeholder and industry engagement.

Specifically, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing the National Government Relations Strategy, including tourism and travel, sustainability and events.

The role will be required to develop and maintain effective relationships with Government including Ministers, Oppositions, key advisors, Departments, and stakeholders that influence government decision making.

Key Requirements

We are looking for a Head of Government Relations & Corporate Affairs that has:

  • Highly developed government relations knowledge with proven experience across all levels eg 8+ years in Government Relations / Corporate Affairs / Ministerial adviser role, within a commercial setting / political office/industry association / think tank /peak sporting body
  • Knowledge and understanding of the cycles and processes of government decision-making across federal, state and local levels
  • Strong policy nous and be able to understand, decipher and influence government policy• Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking including a deep understanding of politics, political protocols and policy and an ability to accurately assess and target opportunities for golf
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building capabilities including government networks in Vic/SA/WA/Tas
