SailGP is sailing redefined.
Established in 2018 and headquartered in London and San Francisco, SailGP is an annual, global sports championship featuring bold, cutting-edge technology and awe-inspiring athleticism. The fan-centric, inshore racing takes place in some of the most iconic harbors around the globe and culminates with a $1 million winner-takes-all match race. Rival national teams from Australia, China, France, Great Britain, Japan and the United States battle it out in identical supercharged F50 catamarans, engineered for intense racing at electrifying speeds exceeding 50 knots (nearly 60 mph).

The Vision

SailGP was created to engage and excite global sports fans year-round in a supercharged, fast-paced version of sailing aimed at increasing its mainstream popularity, introducing the next generation to the sport and creating a career path for extraordinary athletes.

Role Summary

A rare opportunity to join a global sports rights holder looking to innovate, disrupt and be different. Reporting to the SailGP Chief Marketing Officer, the London based position requires a full-time experienced Marketing professional who wants to join an organisation at an exciting stage of development, and help it grow and achieve its ambition to redefine sailing. 

This is a global marketing role requiring the individual to help shape and execute the marketing strategy at SailGP. The individual we are seeking should be a self-starter, have strong commercial acumen and a can-do attitude and work collaboratively with all departments, local event partners and agencies at SailGP.  The role is based at our London HQ with some frequent international travel required. It offers a competitive salary and benefits with a target start date of September 1, 2019.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to SailGP Chief Marketing Officer.
  • Create and develop the SailGP global marketing strategy.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate marketing efforts to deliver the SailGP global marketing strategy.
  • Select, contract and manage Marketing Department contractors, service providers and agencies. 
  • Research demand for SailGP products and experiences, including competitor research.
  • Work with the commercial department to identify potential customers/partners and develop pricing strategies and packages.
  • Actively support the commercial department on all revenue driving activities.
  • Develop and deliver promotion plans for SailGP as a global series and actively build brand awareness.
  • Develop and deliver event promotion plans for SailGP in specific markets.
  • Work closely with SailGP Management to evolve brand positioning, digital presence, corporate identity and associated collaterals.
  • Continue to develop and implement the SailGP brand story as a new product in the marketplace.  
  • Work with Event Division and Commercial Operations Department to promote SailGP hospitality, ticketing and merchandise programs through advertising campaigns.
  • Coordinate all marketing projects during and between events.
  • Represent SailGP at conferences, trade shows and other major events.
  • Work closely with SailGP CFO to manage SailGP Marketing budget, including expenditures, research, return on investment and projections.


  • 5-8+ year’s professional Marketing experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Marketing, digital and social best practices
  • Proven experience and success in the sports/major events industry with a strong interest in sports
  • Experience of a start-up and/or rapid growth environment desirable
  • Experience of working in an international environment desirable


  • Strong strategic thinking capabilities combined with demonstrated pragmatic operational problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate both independently and in a collaborative, team environment
  • Entrepreneurial and passionate with a desire to exceed expectations
  • Superior organization, prioritization and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively and thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • Self-starter, action-oriented, resourceful; can take a project or program from start to completion
  • Culturally sensitive and able to effectively work internationally
  • Willingness to travel internationally
