Do you have a passion for delivering cloud native digital platforms, and love the thought of working in a dynamic team delivering great services to people working and participating in sport?

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport and comprises of Sport Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).  They are seeking a Technology Lead with a strong software engineering background to join its Digital Sector team who, as part of the Australian Government’s Sport 2030 plan,  is responsible for supporting and leading the transition to a digitally connected Australian sports sector.

From grassroots right up to the pinnacle of elite international competition, the ASC works together with the sport sector, other government partners, business and the wider community to champion the role sport can play in engaging every Australian regardless of age, race, gender, cultural background and physical ability.

You will drive the technical development, delivery and adoption of SportAUS Connect, a federated digital identity and data integration platform designed to connect the Australian sport sector. You will collaborate across government, sports, sport technology, and global technology organisations to deliver a trusted digital identity for the Australian sport sector.

You will have experience delivering contemporary cloud native digital platforms that deliver digital services that meet the needs of everyday Australians that work or participate in sport. You are comfortable working within small agile teams, are curious about new technologies and practices, and have a passion for learning and innovation. A strong communicator, you will be equally comfortable engaging and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders and partners.

As Technology Lead you will possess a full stack software engineering background with the following traits:

  • A passion for sport or at least empathy for sport and its role in Australian life
  • Ability to communicate in a complex stakeholder environment that will have impact across the entire sport sector
  • Exhibit a desire for lifelong learning
  • Exhibit T-Shape skills with strong autonomous problem solving ability
  • Comfortable working in a small multi-disciplinary agile team that needs to balance feature development, technical debt, and implementation and support priorities
  • Has a strong software engineering background as a full stack software engineer within a Java and Spring Boot environment
  • Experience delivering within a devops (infrastructure as code) approach using a CI/CD approach using containers
  • Ideally have a strong understanding of digital identity standards including OpenID Connect, OAuth2, SAML and SCIM
  • Experience with various software and platform architecture patterns, including event and microservice based patterns
  • Capable of coaching mid, junior and graduate software engineers

The position can be based anywhere in Australia

This position requires the holder to be able to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance to ‘Baseline’ level and is open to Australia Citizens only.
